With CNY in less than a month's time, I'm sure many of you would have started looking out for places to head to for this year's reunion dinner?
If your family is keen on something different, like indonesian food, you can check out Indochili
All prepared to welcome Chinese New Year with full force!
We went down for food tasting on Monday, & I must say I was surprised with the crowd they had, the restaurant had a good amount of customers even on a slow weekday. It is pretty comfortable with cushion sofas.
This place unfortunately is not halal certified by Muis, probably halal because the owner is muslim, but it is free from msg which is pretty rare!
Pleasantly surprised that we could order anything we fancy, so we ordered the dishes we always eat at indonesian restaurants!
For drinks, we had pina colada cream soda because we had not seen other menus offering this, unique but combination was done well. We also had the avocado, it's not like a drink as its thick & creamy, indeed value for money. Ordered nasi kuning instead of white rice, not as fragrant as I would like it to be but still good!
Sop Buntut ($14.80)
Definitely a photogenic presentation! We wanted to try the oxtail soup because we are always on the look out to appreciate one that does not have the stinky smell. The broth was nice & meat tender, I liked how the meat did not lose all its flavour to the soup. Good for 2
Rendang Sapi ($9.80)
Although the beef is not fatty meat, it is still tender. Good for 2
Sate Ayam ($7.80)
My favourite dish at Indochili! For almost $1.60 per stick, the portion of the meat is not more than those you can get outside but it is so tender, fatty & easy to slip off the stick. The sauce is really savoury too! I like it too much to share so good for 1 in my case!
Udang Bakar ($17.50)
Price may seem high for 2 prawns but they are king prawns! It wasn't easy for me to get the meat out but the seasoning of the meat is worth the effort. Good for 1.
The food were served fast & that's always a plus point
Desserts time!
Es delima ($6) Kueh lapis ($1.90)
The kueh had good softness & moistness.
Es delima is red ruby ice with coconut & jackfruit slices, before it came, I was telling my boyfriend oh it's just gonna taste like thai red ruby dessert. But, I take it all back, it tasted nothing like that, & we were surprised that the combination tasted yummy. Fruits were fresh and it is yet another unique dish!
Overall, the meal was more than satisfactory! Check it out this CNY!
